The New Jersey Governor's race has been called, and Democrat Philip Murphy has won reelection in a squeaker, about 28,000 out of about 2.5 millions votes cast.
The Democratic areas came in later, and he pulled out a squeaker:
Philip D. Murphy, a New Jersey Democrat whose aggressive approach to controlling the pandemic became a focal point of the bid to unseat him, narrowly held onto the governor’s office in an unexpectedly close election that highlighted stark divisions over mask and vaccine mandates, even in a liberal-leaning state. This is what happens when you do nothing but attempt to appease President Manchin for 6 months.
With roughly 90 percent of the vote tallied, Mr. Murphy was ahead of his Republican challenger, Jack Ciattarelli, by less than 1 percentage point when The Associated Press called the race just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday after a protracted count. The bulk of the outstanding votes were in Democratic strongholds.
In related news, Steve Sweeney, the New Jersey Senate leader since 2010, is down 2000 votes to Ed Durr, a trucker who spend less than $200.00 on his campaign. (I consider this a good thing, Sweeney is a classic conservative corrupt machine Democrat)
