MY experience with Howard Cosell was largely from his blowhard days on Monday Night Football.
This is a video of him cutting the US Olympic Committee a new one over their mistreatment of Tommie Smith and John Carlos over their protest against racism in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.
You remember the picture.
Now recall how the sportscasters treated Colin Kaepernick.
ESPN’s Jon Gruden in 2016: The NFL should “cut” Colin Kaepernick for protesting.

He also supported Muhammed Ali's draft resistance, and was the first to use his name.
The drones in sportscasting these days are useless.
I'm of that age that I only know him from his Monday Night Football days, and I forget that he did some impressive things before that.
