Afghanistan Data Point
There are now more Americans fighting in Afghanistan than the Soviets ever had in country.
There are now 120K soldiers and contractors there, as opposed to 115K by the Soviets at the peak of their war.
While you may not want to count all the contractors as "Americans fighting," you also want to count the soldiers from the UK, Canada, Germany, France, Denmark, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Australia, Romania, Poland, Estonia, Norway, Czech Republic, Latvia, Hungary, Portugal, South Korea, Sweden, Turkey, Belgium, Finland, and Lithuania.
This is a damn mess.
