Normally, I would not consider the Democratic Party gubernatorial primary in Kansas to be interesting, but considering that there has been a Democratic Governor in the state for the last 2 terms, the nomination of Cindy Holscher is very interesting.
First, her opponent was endorsed by popular outgoing Democratic Governor Laura Kelly, and second, Holscher has made opposition to data centers a central part of her campaign.
I do not think that politicians understand just how ferociously the whole Artificial Intelligence/Data Center industrial complex is loathed by the American public right now.

Kansas Democrats chose Sen. Cindy Holscher as their candidate for governor, declining in the Aug. 4 primary to send Gov. Laura Kelly's endorsed candidate through to the general election.

As of 9:25 p.m., Holscher, D-Overland Park, whose running mate is Rep. KC Ohaebosim, D-Wichita, received about 48% of the vote over Sen. Ethan Corson, D-Fairway, who gained around 40% of the vote with Decision Desk HQ and the Associated Press calling the race.
This sets up a general election matchup with Senate President Ty Masterson, R-Andover, who won the Republican primary.
Holscher has campaigned as an anti-establishment candidate. While she voted for legislation giving sales tax breaks to data centers and incentives for the Kansas City Chiefs, she has campaigned on opposing data centers and government subsidies. She has also spent more time than her opponents criticizing former Gov. Sam Brownback.

Corson led in both fundraising and major traditionally Democratic endorsements, including from Gov. Laura Kelly. He has campaigned on continuing Kelly's legacy while also promising to stand up to Trump. Corson's running mate was Salina Chamber president Renee Duxler.
I do believe that an anti-AI data center platform is a winner almost everywhere.
