One of the disappointments from Zoran Mamdani after his election is that he announced that he would keep the absolutely horrible Jessica Tisch as police commissioner.
It looks like he's found a way to split the baby.
Unlike his predecessors, the commissioner will be reporting directly to the Deputy Mayor, and so would not be getting regular face time with hizzoner.
In the context of City Hall politics, face time is the most important currency, and Tisch will be getting less of it.
