The back story here is that Elon Musk is ignoring his agreement to buy Twitter, and cheating former employees out their promised severance benefits.
If the language in this letter to have less legalese than one might ordinarily expect, probably because Akiva Cohen, Esq. realized that he had to use very small words for Musk to understand.
