It's the early 1900s, and the most powerful ship of its day, HMS Dreadnought, is visited by an Abyssinian Prince and his entourage.
Only it wasn't an Abyssinian Prince and his entourage, it was a bunch of pranksters from Cambridge University.
One of the participants was one Virginia Stephen, better known by here married name of Woolf, who later observed that she was treated with more respect when she was disguised as a black man than she was as a white woman, which likely informed some of her later feminist writings.
In any case, the prank, and it's stupid macho aftermath, is well worth learning about.
