Some context here is necessary.
Atrios is talking about an OP/ED in the New York Times, (not linking to it) in which a right wing activist says, to quote Atrios' paraphrase of her, "But Medicaid Should Exist Only For Her Son."
It is the conservative mindset in a nutshell.
