I got my first payout from Google Adsense since 2015, 9 years ago.
Before that, I think that it was late 2013, and before that I would get a $100.00 or so payout every 9 months or so.
While my page count is down somewhat from the 2010 or so, it's not down
by 1500%, but my ad revenue is.
While admittedly anecdotal, and a small data set, I think that this does give
a picture in which the advertising intermediaries are increasingly extracting
more and more money while delivering less and less, because the monopolized
advertising market is gamed for the benefit of Google, Amazon, and the
criminal enterprise formerly known as Facebook™.
To quote Cory Doctorow, "Put bluntly, the problem isn’t Big Tech stealing publishers’ content; it’s that Big Tech is stealing publishers’ money." (emphasis original)
Break them up.
Please note: once again, that I do not vet, nor do I endorse any ad that
appears on my site, and I reserve the right to mock both the ads that appear
on my site, as well as the advertisers.
Also, please note, this should be in no way construed as an inducement or a
request for my reader(s) to click on any ad that they would not otherwise be
inclined to investigate further. This would be a violation of the terms of
service for Google™ Adsense™.
