How Not to Handle a Crisis

Rather than address the growing crisis of an ongoing pandemic, not to mention those already disabled, the US Census is responding by changing the definition of disability.

And if they do so, the rate of disability as identified by the Census is slated to drop to 8%. (2/7)

In response to skyrocketing disability rates as a result of long Covid, the US Census Bureau is redefining disability to get the numbers down.

To quote Richard Feynman, "Reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." 

These sorts of actions, defining normalcy down in order to claim victory, serve only to make things worse.

While I am sure that this sort of action would be widely praised at places like Harvard Business School, the reality is that normalizing failure instead of trying to fix the problem will only serve to make things worse.
