But he's wrong. The "Spanish flu" emerged in the last years of the war, and continued after it.
My grandfather and his older brother both caught Spanish Flu in the army in 1918. Both sick for months, damn near kiĺled them. Too sick to fight, luckily.
That war broke a lot of people, who became "The Lost Generation". But I think it was the decade of binge-drinking after the war that gave them all cultural amnesia. Prohibition...
