He died of cardiac arrest at the age of 66.
My condolences to his family, but given the fact that he had a predilection for hiring conservative columnists whose "facts" were routinely proved wrong by the Washington Post newsroom, and his knee jerk for wars of choice that made John Sidney McCain III look like a peacenik, I would expect an improvement in the quality of punditry at the paper in the not too distance future. (Admittedly an incredibly low bar)
Duncan Black named Hiatt the first runner up of his wankers of the decade in 2012, and I agree with that assessment.
