For a peaceful Black Lives Matter demonstration, they literally had armored vehicles on standby, but law enforcement could not believe that white conservatives, the sort of people who have been behind ⅔ of the domestic terrorism over the past few years, could do this.

As the indispensable Charlie Pierce observes, "The report reeks of bureaucratic failure inspired by what appears to be a refusal of law-enforcement agencies to believe that large gatherings of largely Caucasian males are capable of mass violence."

To paraphrase the late John Vernon, "Incompetent, racist, and stupid is no way to go through life."
