Landlord on Eviction Moratorium: We're Suffering Too

Julio Gonzalez and his private jet, tail #: N565SK, a Hawker 800XP, used $2 million, new $13 million, and it costs about $2800/hour to operate.

In Business Insider, they interview a "poor" abused landlord complaining about the eviction moratorium and how it is making him suffer.

It appears that he has lost about ⅙ of his profits in lost rents.  Not his revenue, but his profits.

Also note that landlording is his side job, his day job is a consultant specializing in tax avoidance strategies, and he owns a private jet, so we have to feel sorry for him, or at least that is what he thinks.

I honestly do not know whether the Reporter did this interview ironically or not, but Mr. Gonzalez comes across as a contemptible greed-head:

I'm Julio Gonzalez, the CEO and founder of the specialty tax-engineering firm Engineered Tax Services. I also own 24 properties on the East Coast and have been a landlord for 20 years.

The Biden administration's latest eviction moratorium — which lasts through October 3 and covers most US counties, including mine — has led to difficult conversations. Many of our tenants feel like they are in a dire situation.

Unfortunately, we as landlords are, too.

Twenty of my properties are residential, and I have four tenants taking advantage of the federally mandated eviction moratorium. The moratoriums have led to a significant and negative effect in profitability — for me, it's been a 15% loss in profit. Residents not paying rent essentially leads to free living, while landlords still have to pay for taxes, utilities, and more.

(Emphasis mine)

So, he wants to throw his tenants out into the street, and he is not even losing money.

And he helps people dodge taxes.

And he owns a private jet.

Mr. Gonzales, go f%$# yourself.
