It's Jobless Thursday
Ind initial claims unexpectedly rose by 27,000 to 412,000, though continuing and emergency claims fell.
We also saw a 0.7% increase in producer prices, though this appears to have been driven primarily by a spike in energy prices.
I'm inclined to believe that this sort of commodity inflation generally crimps consumers and business spending, so perhaps these two things are tied together.
