Hat Tip to David Obey, for Having Some Backbone

Obey, the House Appropriations Committee Chairman, has been working for some time on compromise spending legislation with the Congressional Republicans and the White House, and now that Bush has threatened a veto of anything more than what he submitted (Obey was trying to split the difference), he has terminated negotiations, and told the White House and Republicans that he will balance the budget by wacking Republican priorities and earmark pork.

Good for him. If Bush and His Evil Minions^™ don't want to negotiate in good faith, hit back hard.
