Silvio Burlusconi has died at the age of 86.
His long and storied political career was driven by the fact that he completely dominated the Italian airwaves, particularly after he became PM, when he controlled most of the commercial broadcasters as well as state media.
There is a lesson here regarding media consolidation in the United States.
