No family emergency or anything else.
It's about 10th time that I have missed a day in almost 20 years.

Power has been out since about 7pm, and as yet, a crew had not been scheduled.
As to what I did today, I was down in Cheverly for a sewing circle and terrorist society meeting, and I caught the July 4 flyover.
I just saw some F-18s, some F-22s, a VC-25, a KC 135, and a KC 46.

Working on a medieval Lenten lasagna recipe using leavened noodles.
Nothing major, but I have a backlog of stuff in draft that I have not cleaned up in a while.
If you are wondering why some older news or quotes are being blogged about, it's Spring cleaning.
I got back from Dayton late this evening and I'm completely wiped
I did get the opportunity to spend a little bit over 2 hours at the US Air Force museum in Dayton, and that was quite nice.
I will show pictures later.
The end of, "Say Fuck January."
I'm sorry, but we have eleven months of, "f%$#," and "sh%$," ahead of us.
I feel like I'm f%$#ing losing the ability to speak.
All indications are that2026 will be worse than 2025.
Of course, "Say fuck January will continue until January 31st, though I am tempted to continue through January 335th.
So my reader(s) should expect a bit of swearing for the next months, in addition to my early start.

I hope for the best for you and yours, but recent evidence indicates that this is unlikely.
From a blogging perspective, this year has been a disappointment for me.
My output has hit a low for me, around 1020 posts when all is said and done. (I typically try for about 100 posts a month)
Some of you will suggest that I should focus on quality rather than quantity, but as anyone who has read my screeds, it's pretty clear that I'm never gonna knock it out of the park on quality.
I'm not called the worst writer on the internet for nothing. (OK, it's me wot calls me that, but still………)
As to my top 10 posts of the year according to Blogger stats, they are:
At least according to the Blogspot tools.
As to my year end summary of what actually happened here, I can only conclude that Osama bin Laden has won.
On the brighter side, I've done more brewing, and I made a kick ass recipe based on a Babylonian recipe.
After an oft delayed review of my blog comments, I spam flagged 3 posts.
They were all just links to prostitution websites.
Here is a hint to would be hooker spammers: Wait until I post about prostitueion or sex work.
At least then, you will be on topic.
And it wasn't just one Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment.
There were about a dozen WTF stories.
I hate this timeline.
The fast for Yom Kippur went fine. The re-integration into society? Not so much.
Today was Trial by Fire, a medieval cooking event, and while i did not compete, i did cook 2 different parked dishes under camping conditions.
In case you were wondering, i made a Lenten lasagna (no egg nor cheese, sweet with walnuts), and a biscuit from a recipe by Cato the Elder.
I made the lasagna noodles from scratch, which was most of the work, even with a pasta machine.
Just wondering.
It seems that the titles of my posts seem a bit flat lately.
For me, it commonly involves historical recipes.
I'm looking up something, and suddenly I have spent over three hours looking up a Renaissance era Lenten (no meat, eggs, cheese, or butter at that point in history during Lent) lasagna recipe containing walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, and other spices.
It's called, "Monk's Head."
Other folks are obsessing about civil rights violations, jackbooted thugs kidnapping people of the street, and billionaire pedophile sex rings, and I'm doing old recipes.
I am the dullest mother f$#@er on the planet.
I have my country's 500th anniversary to plan, a wife to murder, a war to start, and Gilder to blame for it.
I'm swamped.
Life gets in the way sometimes.
Also, if you do not know where this quote comes from, I have one word for you, "Inconceivable!"
I am busy reconstructing/moving furniture.
For a good reason.
I'm doing homework for a bunch of interviews with a bunch of companies.
I'm not sure why it is picking up, but it is, and hopefully I will find something soon.

I reserve the right to reprint any email correspondence on my blog.
If you want to keep your correspondence private, please tell me.

I am a Jew and a Zionist, who is married to a woman with exquisitely bad taste in men, and I have two remarkable children with her.
It's a posting ground for my more-or-less annual personal newsletter, 40 Years in the Desert.(PDF's available at link)
I find that if I wait until year's end I miss stuff from earlier in the year.
40 Years is put out the old fashioned way, it's printed out on ledger sized paper with 4 pages and mailed to people, total circulation of about 100.
I'm just not the holiday card kind of guy. A warning, if you comment here, I may use it in my paper publication.
You will get credit, and if I can get your postal adress, you will get at least the issue where you are quoted (probably a lot more, I rarely trim my list).
If someone actually wants to pay for an issue...I don't know, I guess a buck, but you can get the PDF's free.
I intend to post at least a couple of times a week,
