Today in Stupid Responses to Military Reality

I do understand how low-cost drones are giving the US military, which, if it had its way, would develop an $800,000.00 tactical paper clip.

They have discovered that the M-1 Abrams is vulnerable to systems that cost 3 or 4 orders of magnituded than their gold-plated whiz-bang.

You know what is a bad solution for this problem?  Removing the .50 Cal M2 Browning machine gun and replacing it with a minigun.

First, as anyone who has tried to hunt birds can tell you, a rifle round is not a good way to take down a small flying creature.

Second, you need to have someone with an open hatch, exposed, to operate the thing.

Third, the minigun cannot do things like taking out IFVs and LAVs reliably.

And then there are the logistical issues.

Whoever signed off on this idea needs another line of work.  I would suggest phone sanitizer. dog walker, or stamp licker.
