Some Takeaways from the Elections

Georgia, once again, is headed to a Senate runoff, which is a complete mind-f%$#.  Hershel Walker is a poster child for mental illness generally, and probably CTE.

In Nevada, despite the best efforts of the Nevada Democratic Party establishment (There is no Nevada Democratic Party establishment) to kneecap the party after progressive reformers won party elections, Catherine Cortez Masto (D) still remains in a close race with Adam Laxalt (R), though Cortez Masto still trails. (Maybe the Nevada Democratic Party establishment (There is no Nevada Democratic Party establishment) shouldn't have emptied the party coffers and gotten all of the staff to quit last year.)

It's depressing that Walker got any votes, much less more than 48% of the vote.

On the brighter side, Lauren Boebert is still behind Adam Frisch, though the gap is now under 100, so a recount is likely and all bets are off.

  • One of the more interesting results, and I put this in the "Good Riddance" category, is the loss of Sean Patrick Maloney in New York, where he was defeated by Republican Mike Lawler.
  • I feel a lot of Schadenfraude over this one because:
  • Maloney had one of the 10 most conservative voting records among House Democrats, being a creature of the finance industry, he was a part of the New Democrat Coalition, and he was a member of the complete bullsh%$ "No Labels" Problem Solvers Caucus.
  • He changed districts because he wanted a more favorable district, and in so doing, big-footed Mondial Jones, one of the few real progressives in the New York State Congressional delegation.
  • As Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, he led efforts to push corporate sellouts and withheld resources from real Democrats.

He had clearly been selected by the  Democratic Party establishment (There is no Democratic Party establishment) for future leadership positions in the House.

Basically, on everything but LGBTQ rights, Maloney is gay, he was horrible and an impediment to the party.  (Think Krysten Sinema with better fashion sense and far less mental illness).
